Gelissen Paardentransport

| Expertise – passed on from generation to generationGelissen Horse Transport bases its professionalism and expertise on knowledge and experience that has been built up since 1932. That was the year that Anton (Twan) Gelissen started with the transportation of various materials such as materials for the construction of the church in Genhout and raw materials for the Elsstokerij in Beek. Twan also carried livestock to the markets outside the local area such as Valkenburg and Maastricht. Shift in emphasisOver the years the business gradually shifted towards the transport of horses. The company was taken over by Anton’s son, Frans, and his wife in 1972 and moved to its current address in Beek. |
The area serviced by the company gradually expanded during the 1970s. Gelissen started transporting horses outside the local region and later internationally as well. The 1980s saw the company transporting horses to Italy. Later it was transporting horses to Russia, where horses (mainly Russian Arabians) were transported as far as Moscow and Tersk in Siberia. The company fleet also grew steadily at the same time.
National and international horse transportIn 1998 Frans and Yvonne handed over the reins of the business to their children, Chantal and Roger Gelissen, who now run the company. Under their management, the company has turned away from transporting other animals. Roger and Chantal have decided to concentrate fully on the transportation of horses, nationally and internationally. | |
